Content & Copywriting Intern — Practical Exercise
The exercise
Aim for 45–60 minutes. Stop at 60 minutes and note anything unfinished. Submit within 48 hours of receiving the task; reply if you need more time. This is a fictional recruitment exercise, and we will not use submissions for client work. No design, video production, website build or paid tool is required.
Fictional brief: DayCarry
DayCarry is a fictional everyday laptop-backpack brand. Audience: people commuting to an office who want to organise their laptop and daily essentials. Goal: encourage qualified visits to the product page. Voice: clear, practical and conversational.
- Price: ₹2,499.
- Capacity: 20 litres; padded compartment fits laptops up to 15.6 inches.
- Two internal organiser pockets and one side bottle pocket.
- Water-resistant outer fabric; not waterproof.
- One-year warranty covering manufacturing defects only.
- No approved discount, customer-review data, sales ranking, delivery guarantee or sustainability claim is supplied.
Use only these facts. If information is missing, state what you would ask rather than inventing it. You do not need external research for this brief.
A. Hooks and short script
Write two different opening hooks, then choose one and write a 20-second video/Reel script with spoken lines, simple visual cues and a call to action. Aim for about 45–55 spoken words. Explain the angle and audience in two sentences.
B. Two ad-copy variations
Write two distinct ad angles, each with primary text of up to 60 words, a headline of up to 35 characters and a clear call to action. Keep the product facts consistent. Explain in one sentence how you would compare their performance; do not promise results.
C. SEO writing
Target phrase: “laptop backpack for office”. State the likely search intent, then write:
- One H1 and two useful H2 headings for a product/collection landing page.
- A helpful 120–150-word introduction that uses the phrase naturally and answers a real buyer concern.
- A title tag of up to 60 characters and meta description of up to 160 characters.
- One suggested internal link destination and a natural anchor text.
These character limits are exercise constraints. Avoid keyword stuffing, invented specifications and promises of rankings.
D. Edit and explain
“DayCarry is India’s No.1 100% waterproof laptop backpack for office laptop backpack for office. Buy today for 50% off with free delivery tomorrow, guaranteed. Perfect for everyone and every laptop.”
Rewrite this in 35–50 words using the approved facts and a useful call to action. Briefly identify at least four problems you corrected.
What to submit

How we assess quality
We look for understanding of the brief and audience, factual accuracy, useful SEO writing, distinct persuasive angles, clear language, editing judgement and an ability to explain and improve the work. There is no single model answer. AI assistance itself is not a negative when disclosed; understanding and revision ability will be checked in a short follow-up discussion.
